Book Description

Over the second half of the 20th century, Canada instituted a series of reforms culminating in the creation of a national health care system with universal coverage. The papers in this e-book assess progress related to health reform, primary care, health outcomes and prescription drug costs. While Canada has a strong primary care infrastructure and average per capita health spending, there are still improvements to be made in health system performance and addressing socioeconomic disparities.  This collection of papers provides lessons from the past as well as highlighting the challenges that remain to improving health and health care in Canada.
